Our History
Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a Catholic School of Daly City, was founded in 1933 as a humble and temporary four-classroom building. Since the school’s founding, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange assisted in all the daily operations and served as administrators and teachers. In their time with OLPH, they helped guide the school through many upgrades. In 1942 a second temporary building was added, and the school building you see today was erected in 1947, under the direction of Pastor James Bergin.
As the school and community population grew, it was decided that a full-time Kindergarten was to be added in 1983. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange established a vibrant and excellent Catholic school and returned to Orange, California in June 1987.
OLPH has continued to grow and adapt over the years. The extended care program was added in 1997 and we began using a modified departmentalized Junior-High program in September 2000.
The present OLPH School still has ties with the sisters as we are part of the CSJ Educational Network, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange. Our current staff is comprised of one lay principal and six full-time teachers. For electives, we have a Music teacher, a Spanish teacher, and a Physical Education teacher (Rhythm and Moves). The school has the additional support services of parish staff, counselors, instructional and administrative assistants, as well as a phenomenal team of custodial/maintenance staff.
Together with the CSJ Network and the SF Archdiocese, we empower students to grow as instruments of unity and reconciliation.
